Cowbridge Music Festival
September sees Cowbridge celebrate all things musical with its very own Music Festival. Set up six years ago in 2010, the Festival aimed to celebrate the best vocal and instrumental talent that the Vale of Glamorgan has to offer.
Since then, the Festival has grown from strength to strength, especially due to its support from the Arts Council of Wales. Over 40 hand-picked artists are now showcased, not only from Wales, but from right across Europe.
Many concerts and events are held during the fortnight over which the Festival runs, many of which are held in Cowbridge's beloved church. The beautiful medieval building in the centre of town makes the perfect location for classical music. Other venues include historic pub and local favourite, 'The Duke of Wellington', and Cowbridge Comprehensive School.
Though much of the festivals' offerings are classical in genre, growing influences of folk and jazz add variety to the mix. As part of the Festival, the admirable Community Outreach Programme travels local schools to encourage children to get involved in music, through fun faster events. For keen musicians, several 'masterclasses' are run by renowned instrumentalists and vocalists. Tickets to the festival's events can be purchased separately, or for access to all of the concerts, a Festival Pass priced at £70 is your best bet.
